WHAT IS SMA?
The Student Marketing Association is SFU’s creative and innovative marketing-based student organization. Our focus is to bring together like-minded individuals who are interested in exploring the different areas of marketing and are seeking to gain experience and skills. Through a variety of programs and events, SFU SMA offers practical learning and leadership opportunities.
The Vice President of Business Development leads the REACH Marketing Development Program, secures client companies, oversees student project teams, organizes marketing workshops, and maintains relationships with external organizations.
The Vice President of Corporate Relations builds and maintains relationships with sponsors, secures funding and workshops, and ensures partnerships align with SMA’s values and goals. They must be willing to learn and act on follow-up protocols, networking, cold calling, and negotiation.
The Vice President of Events leads the planning and execution of SMA’s events, recruits and trains organizing committees, and collaborates with other departments to deliver high-impact experiences.
The Vice President of Marketing oversees SMA’s branding and marketing strategy, ensuring consistency across all channels. They are responsible for creating marketing plans, managing social media engagement, and collaborating on branding materials.
The Vice President of Design creates visual content and ensures brand consistency across all materials. They collaborate with marketing and events teams, mentor designers, and maintain SMA’s website.
The Vice President of Human Resources manages the recruitment process, oversees internal engagement through social events, maintains organizational culture, and handles conflict resolution within the club.
The Vice President of Finance and Operations oversees financial stability, manages budgets and transactions, and handles administrative tasks such as grants and room bookings. They are responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting and collaborates with other departments.
